For the Curious: A Natural Candle Workshop at Home, in 5 Steps
Natural candle making is more than a craft — it is a calming studio practice of scents, colors and textures.
Natural candle making is more than a craft: it is a studio practice where you compose your own atmosphere with scents, colors and textures — and it calms the mind. All at home, in five steps.
1. Prepare your materials. Soy or beeswax, a cotton wick, a glass jar and an essential oil you love are enough.
2. Melt the wax in a double boiler. Melt slowly, keeping the water below boiling.
3. Add the scent. When the wax cools to 60°C, add the essential oil and stir gently.
4. Fix the wick and pour. Center the wick in the jar and pour the wax slowly.
5. Be patient. Rest the candle for 24 hours at room temperature; let it burn at least 2 hours on first lighting.
Free of parabens and artificial additives, natural candles are kinder to indoor air.
Among scents: lavender calms, citrus refreshes, vanilla builds warmth. A weekend ritual in the making.
